谚语，作为积淀着民族实践和经验的人类智慧的结晶，是人类文化宝库中绚丽多彩的瑰宝,语言不可分割的重要组成部分。
从整体上讲，谚语常常显得既寓意深刻又韵味隽永，既闪烁着思想智慧的光辉,也闪耀着语言艺术的光彩。
从内容上讲，谚语是语言的精萃，智慧的火花，是人类在长期生活和社会实践中各种经验体会的积累和升华。从语言形式上讲，谚语中往往充分运用押韵，对偶，反衬等各种修辞手段，大都言简意赅，幽默风趣，富有哲理。
从音韵角度来看，谚语又富有乐感。音韵和谐，朗朗上口，便于记诵。简言之，谚语是一部融意美、形美、音美于一体的高度浓缩的百科全书。
本篇论文收集了大量的例子来分析它们各自的特点。
全文由四章组成，
开篇第一章为全文的引言部分，该部分简要地介绍了当今对谚语的研究状况和这篇论文的宗旨，大纲及全文的结构安排。
第二章首先论述了谚语的定义和谚语翻译的重要性，然后对汉语谚语进行分类，接着阐述了谚语翻译的重要性。
第三章得出了七个中文谚语的翻译方法：字面翻译法、意译法、增译法、省略法、借用法、还原法，
最后一章为结论。作者希望这个尝试性的研究能够对其他的同学有一定的用途，希望这篇论文能引起其他同学对研究谚语翻译方法的兴趣。
Proverbs, as the crystallization of human wisdom accumulating national practice and experience, are the glittering gems of the cultural treasure house in the world, being an important part of language. On the whole, they are deep in meaning and rich in rhyme. Moreover, they are not only the carriers of intelligence and wisdom of the people but also the reflections of the languages and the arts. From the perspective of their content, proverbs are all the collective wisdom of peoples, distilled from centuries of experience of dealing with the problems and difficulties of life. On the other hand, their popularity has also been enhanced by the use of such devices as rhyme, assonance, alliteration and antithesis, which have made them easier to be memorized. In short, proverbs have long been justifiably entitled a highly condensed encyclopedia, which is deep in meaning, pithy in form and pleasant in sound.
In this paper, it collects many authentic translated versions to analyze the properties of the two approaches. The opening chapter is a brief introduction commenting on current studies on proverbs concerning with the aim and outline of the present paper. The author hope this tentative study could be useful for other students, and hope this thesis could lead fellow students to more analysis on proverb translation strategies.
