根据5月7日ESI（Essential Science Indicators）更新的数据显示，同济大学共有7篇论文登上最新的ESI-Hot Paper (last 2 years)排行榜，第一作者单位为同济大学的有3篇，这3篇论文均由化学系教师贡献。
闫冰老师课题组有2篇入选，分别是“Nanoscale metal-organic frameworks as highly sensitive luminescent sensors for Fe2+ in aqueous solution and living cells”（Chem. Commun., 2014,50, 9969-9972）、“An Eu3+ post-functionalized nanosized metal-organic framework for cation exchange-based Fe3+-sensing in an aqueous environment”（J. Mater. Chem. A, 2014,2, 13691-13697）。
刘明贤、甘礼华老师课题组1篇入选，“Development of MnO2/porous carbon microspheres with a partially graphitic structure for high performance supercapacitor electrodes”（J. Mater. Chem. A, 2014,2, 2555-2562）。
ESI（Essential Science Indicators），即基本科学指标数据库，其数据来自全球11,000多种学术期刊1000多万篇论文的分析和统计结果。ESI-Hot Papers （热点论文）是指近2年内发表并且在最近2个月内具有很高被引用次数的ESI论文，每个领域的前1‰的论文得以入选ESI-Hot Papers。因此，入选ESI热点论文(Hot Papers)可以看作是该领域被广泛认可、最重要的文章，是衡量一个科学家论文影响力的重要指标。ESI论文是各学科领域学术研究的领跑者，已成为我国一年一度学校及学科排名的关键指标之一。
